Plasback expand collection network in South Westland.

Plasback and South Westland Rubbish Removal have joined forces to strengthen the collection network for farmers in the Hari Hari to Fox Glacier area.

Plasback Scheme Manager, Chris Hartshorne, said “ We are always looking at our options to see how we can improve on the service delivery to farmers and our tie up with Rainer at South Westland Rubbish Removal will allow us to do just that. We are really pleased Rainer has agreed to work with us in the South Westland region as this will allow us to offer faster pick ups of filled liners of waste silage film from farms” Farmers who have Plasback liners for collection can contact Plasback on the free phone number 0508 338 240 or can ring Rainer direct on 03 753 4151.

South Westland Rubbish Removal is well known to many farmers in the area and operates a commercial and household  waste and recycling service in South Westland covering an area from Hari Hari to Fox Glacier. Owner, Rainer Oehmig, said” This is great news for the farmers in South Westland and the environment. Being a local operator and the leading West Coast Recycling Business we will ensure that the Plasback system is available to all farmers in the area. ”

Plasback is an accredited Product Stewardship scheme and collects multiple plastic wastes from farms. Since Plasback was launched in 2006 over 2000 tonnes of waste silage film has been collected for recycling rather than being burnt or buried on farms.  Chris Hartshorne (left) with Rainer Oehmig.
